Job Opening: Parks & Recreation Administrative Assistant

This full-time position works under the supervision of the Parks & Recreation Supervisor and provides overall administrative support for the Parks and Recreation Department. Answers the phone for incoming calls and deals with customers who come in person for sign-ups, information, or various permits. Answers questions and gives information to the public to whatever extent is practicable. Has a good general knowledge of the Parks & Recreation Department’s programs, facilities, and parks. Designs forms to keep inventories, records, and lists. Does filing and keeps records of participants, programs, equipment, and other important information. The starting probationary salary is $18.87/hr. with the potential to increase to $20.97/hr. after six months.

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience with computers or data entry systems. Two years municipal employment in a related field or equivalent job experience.

Desirable Qualifications: Specialized training in the area of Parks and Recreation. Advanced training with computers, desktop publishing or equivalent, and Microsoft Office.
