Twig and Branch Collection

Branch and twig collection will be held the second and fourth Mondays of each month running May through October.  Place the materials on your curbside.  Branches must be cut in four-foot lengths and bundled in order for the crews to take them away.  Any branches or tree trunks not cut to this length and bundled will be left for the owner to haul away.  Twigs may be in boxes or bags. Individuals removing their diseased elm trees should call City Hall (281-1232) to schedule pickup.

Mayor's Challenge: "30 for 30"

"30 for 30" is a challenge to commit to spending 30 minutes outdoors for 30 days in the month of May. Let's get outside and have some fun!

2016 Aquafina Pitch, Hit, and Run Competition

Boys and Girls ages 7-14 are invited to the Annual Aquafina Pitch, Hit, & Run competition being held this Saturday, April 30th at the Highland Complex-Diamond #1 at 10:00 am. The winners in each category of basic baseball and softball skills may go on to district and state competitions.

City Real Property Sale

The City of Crookston will be accepting sealed bids at the City Clerk‐Finance Office, 124 North Broadway, Crookston, MN 56716 until 11:00 a.m. Monday April 25, 2016, for the sale of the following real property:

  1. 515 Bridge St.
  2. 615 Woodland Ave.

All  properties  are  sold  “as  is”.  New  owners  must  provide  payment  at  the  Crookston  City  Clerk’s office.  Returned bids must be clearly marked with address of property bidding being bid on.  The bid sheet must include your name, address, and a phone number where you can be reached.

Job Opening: Part-Time Janitor

The City of Crookston is seeking part time help for janitorial services. This job will pay $12.00 per hour. Hours worked will vary, may be approximately 2 hours per day. Pick up an application packet at City Hall, 124 N. Broadway, or call 218-281-1232 to have one mailed to you.

Spring 2016 Clean-Up Week

April 25th – April 29th is Spring Clean-Up Week in Crookston.  Clean-up items will be picked up only on your regular garbage pickup day and must be placed on the street boulevard.  Please note: Compost material - grass clippings, lawn or garden waste - WILL NOT have to be in City compost bags for this week only.  Cleanup items should be separated into the following piles:  garbage, clothing, cardboard, etc.; appliances; branches and yard waste; furniture, metal items, demolition, etc. and tires.  Placing these items out in separate piles will help speed the clean-up process.

Softball Organizational Meetings

Men's and Women's Softball Organizational Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 6, at the Irishman's Shanty.

Men's meeting at 7:00 p.m. and Women's at 8:00 p.m.

Notice of Schedule Change

City Hall will be closed at noon on Friday, March 25th in observance of Good Friday.

City garbage collection for Friday will remain the same.

Job Opening: Public Works Maintenance Service III

The City of Crookston is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Maintenance Service III in the Public Works Department. This  position  is  primarily  data  entry/acquisition  of  utility  meter  readings.  Secondary  functions  of  this  position include  but  are  not limited  to:  routine  manual  laboring  work  with  hand  tools;  help  make  repairs  to  water  mains; installation and maintenance of water meters; and work at the water plant/well site.

Crookston Parks and Recreation Matching Funds Program

Crookston Parks and Recreation Department has available 50/50 matching dollars for development of “city owned” parks and playgrounds.  An annual allocation up to $5,000 is available for individuals or groups pursuing a project.  Projects submitted must meet the goals, philosophy and mission of the Parks and Recreation Department.  The Park Board has the right to deny or approve any or all applications.  Those interested are encouraged to contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 218-281-1242 or 218-281-2465 for an application.  Requests for the next round of funds are due by
