Safety Town
Crookston Public Schools “Safety Town” is a comprehensive safety education program for children who are going to be entering kindergarten. Officers from The Crookston Police Department, members of The Crookston Fire Department, and other EMS and law enforcement personnel participate in the program. It is a one week, 20 hour, summer program that introduces children to the following safety issues:

National Night Out
National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch that involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and local officials in the U.S., Canada, and military bases worldwide. NNO is held annually on the first Tuesday in August. The City of Crookston hosts NNO each year in Central Park. For 2008 National Night Out photo gallery click this link. Community Halloween Party
The Community Halloween party is an annual event held the Sunday before Halloween. The event is hosted/sponsored by many community organizations and businesses including The Crookston Police Department, Crookston Police Reserve, VFW Auxiliary, and Crookston Leo Club. Parents and children ages pre-school through 4th grade are encouraged to attend (in costume). Games, candy, pop, coffee, hotdogs, and popcorn are provided free of charge. Highlights include “the spook house” and an appearance by the crime dog, McGruff.
