2. City of Crookston Garbage and Recycling Bin Service Sign-Up

   The City of Crookston offers an optional Garbage and Recycling Bin Service. 

   Please fill out the form below to sign up. Once form is completed, this will serve as a confirmation of services. Waste Management and/or Public Works will deliver your bins in a timely manner, typically within 1-2 weeks.

    Waste Management began garbage & recycling bin services on May 7th, 2025. 

    • Garbage collection through Waste Management will be once per week on Wednesdays. 
    • Recycling pickup is once per month on the first Wednesday of the first full week of the month, see the link below to view the Waste Management Pickup Calendar.
    • Information on where to place the bins as well as additional information about this service can be found at the links below. 
    • The colored bag service will continue on the currently assigned garbage day for each area until July 11th.
    • After July 11th, city colored bag pickup will be discontinued along with the blue bin recycling service. 
    • Residents are still able to bring your trash and recycle to the transfer station at your convenience.

    Each household that signs up will receive:

    • One 96-gallon garbage bin
    • One 96-gallon recycling bin
      • Additional bins are available upon request (see question below)

    Service Overview

    • Trash Collection: Weekly
    • Recycling Collection: Monthly
    • Bin Type: 96-gallon carts for both trash and recycling

    Cost Breakdown

    • Base Fee: $20.90/month (includes one trash & recycling bin)
    • Residents will not be charged for services until bins are delivered and service has begun.
    • Residents can cancel bin services at any time. Please reach out to Crookston Public Works to discontinue service at any time with no cancellation charge.  

    Extra Bins (Optional) 

    • Trash: $8.97 per additional cart
    • Recycling: $3.57 per additional cart
      • Base price does not include current $6/month utility charge (drive by fee for Spring/Fall clean-up and brush pick-up services)

22. Service Acknowledgment
    • The service is billed as a monthly fee that will be included on your utility bill. 
    • This service does not require the use of City of Crookston yellow or orange bags. Residents can use the garbage bags of their choice.
    • You may cancel the service at any time.
    • Bins with repairable damage (e.g., broken wheels or lids) will be repaired, not replaced.
    • Only bins with unrepairable cracks, holes, or broken parts will be replaced.
    • Scratched, dirty, or foul-smelling bins are not eligible for replacement.
    • Bins damaged by resident negligence, vandalism, or causes not related to City operations will not qualify for free replacement, and replacement fees may apply.
    • The City will replace bins damaged by City actions or its contractors at no cost to the resident.
