Water Division
The Water Division is a part of Public Works and is located in Crookston City Hall.
The Crookston Water Division is responsible for the water distribution system for the City of Crookston and two areas out of city limits: the Highland Estates and American Crystal Sugar. The department supplies water for its customers and for fire protection. It consists of seven employees: the Public Works Director, the Water Superintendent, two Servicemen, one Meter Reader, and two office employees.
The water supply for Crookston is pumped from six wells located east of Crookston to the water plant located on Fairfax Avenue, where it is chemically treated. In 2011, 301 million gallons were treated by the water plant.
There are three 500,000 gallons storage tanks within the water system. One is located at the well site, another at the north end of Crookston on Fisher Avenue, and the last at the south end in the industrial park.
