Water Division

The Water Division is a part of Public Works and is located in Crookston City Hall.

The Crookston Water Division is responsible for the water distribution system for the City of Crookston and two areas out of city limits: the Highland Estates and American Crystal Sugar. The department supplies water for its customers and for fire protection. It consists of seven employees: the Public Works Director, the Utilities Director, two Servicemen, and two office employees.

The water supply for Crookston is pumped from six wells located east of Crookston to the water plant located on Fairfax Avenue, where it is chemically treated. In 2011, 301 million gallons were treated by the water plant.

There are three 500,000 gallons storage tanks within the water system. One is located at the well site, another at the north end of Crookston on Fisher Avenue, and the last at the south end in the industrial park.

Water Service Line Inspections — We Need Your Help!

The City of Crookston is required to inventory all water service lines as part of new federal Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR). This helps us protect the safety of your drinking water.

We’re asking residents to schedule a quick 10–15 minute in-home inspection to check the type of water service line entering your home (usually near your water meter).

To schedule an appointment, please call (218) 281-5711 or email serviceline@crookston.mn.us. (If you have already submitted pictures, there is no need to schedule an appointment)

Thank you for helping us keep Crookston’s water safe and in compliance with federal regulations!
